Kwalee Server Ninja, Steve Clark, tells us about his current co-op game of choice, Hunted: The Demon’s Forge.
Hunted is a Fantasy action adventure game, that has tried to take a leaf out the Gears of War series. Despite quite a few flaws I actually really enjoyed playing it. You control either Caddoc or E’lara, two Mercenaries looking to make as much money as possible and there is a good dynamic between the two characters. Although E’lara is a cliched female game character, the game isn’t afraid to make fun of it.
The fighting is very enjoyable, with each character playing differently. Caddoc is your usual hack and slash fighter with spells to make him stronger or charge quickly ahead, but he also has the ability to lift the surrounding enemies allowing E’lara to easily take them out. E’lara is where the Gears of War influence comes in, her main weapon is her bow and arrow which she can use from cover.
There are some issues with the local split-screen co-op, as it uses less of the screen than it could. The blank areas of the screen are used for the HUD, so it would of been nice to see more of the world around you.
Hunted is a bit rough around the edges, but I found it rather enjoyable and my partner-in-crime absolutely loved it despite it’s flaws. It is well worth renting or grabbing from a bargain bin.
