Kwalee’s Alexei Lundgard had the opportunity to meet one of his heroes this weekend. This is what happened when Alexei met Hideo Kojima, the legendary creator of the Metal Gear series.

Last Saturday I was privileged to attend a signing event in London, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Metal Gear series. I was able to meet my gaming idols – the creator of the series, Hideo Kojima and the series artist and character designer, Yoji Shinkawa. Both of these figures have been massively influential on my career and aspirations towards working in the games industry.

The event was fantastic! It was my third time meeting Mr. Kojima and this time was the best one yet! We were allowed to bring any one item to get signed, so I was able to get a signature on the prized jewel of my Metal Gear collection, one of the rarest items out there – an original MSX2 copy of Metal Gear 2!

I was in contact with the series producer, Kenichiro Imaizumi, on Twitter and he was aware of me coming to the event wearing my custom made “Kojima is God” t-shirt. When the time came for me to meet Kojima, both he and Kenichiro were really excited to see my shirt and say hi to me!

It was an incredible day which I will never forget.
