Best platform games: Mega Run

Mega Run is definitely one of the best platform games on the iPhone. I started playing the game this week after our Head of Art, James Horn, recommended the game on our Games We Like page.

It borrows its core gameplay from the myriad of “endless run” games which have appeared on mobile devices in recent years. You simply tap the screen to jump or hold your finger down for longer jumps, but where the game stands out is that you are playing on individual stages, rather than continuously until you die.

The stages are broken up into themes and you are rated out of three stars, like in Angry Birds, Cut The Rope and many other mobile games. There are lots of comparisons to be made to Sonic The Hedgehog too. Levels have multiple routes, you can collect coins and power-ups and there are even hidden coloured gems to discover.

As you progress through the game, the levels become really challenging, but without becoming frustrating thanks to a cheap in-app purchase which gives you a chance to resume a level immediately from where you died rather than starting over.

Mega Run is a really enjoyable platform game which should satisfy anyone looking for a challenge on their iPhone or iPad. Trying to get three stars and collect the gems on each level creates plenty of longevity too.

Perhaps Mega Run will inspire Kwalee as we continue along our journey to make our own awesome iPhone games!
