Kwalee comes out on top against Tesco, Deliveroo and more in UK app publisher rankings

A recent ranking of UK-based app publishers, conducted by the leading app analytics firm App Annie, has positioned us as the number one UK mobile games publisher and the top British app publisher across all categories in the private sector!

Based on downloads in 2020 – a year in which we launched hit games such as Let’s Be Cops 3D (13 million downloads), Bake It (42 million) and Line Up: Draw the Criminal (18 million) – only the BBC and the UK National Health Service, both massive public institutions, are said to have reached more people with their apps.

It’s an unbelievable thrill for us to see that the mobile games we make – which all of us play a key role in shaping – are reaching more people than the apps of some absolutely gigantic UK companies.

Check out the ranking yourself below to see the companies Kwalee is sitting in front of, including the likes of Tesco, Deliveroo, ITV and Boohoo.com!

Of course, the name of the game with hyper-casual mobile games is to reach massive global audiences, so this is just another form of validation that we are on the right track.

“So proud of the team – Kwalee is bigger than Tesco and ITV!” commented our CEO David Darling, with tongue only slightly in cheek. “Our outlook is truly global and we strive daily to reach hundreds of millions of players around the world. It’s an honour to be able to say that we are doing this more effectively than any other UK-based app publisher, not just in the gaming space but across all categories in the private sector.”

“We will continue to work globally, both in terms of the audiences we reach and as we continue to establish our growing teams in India and China, but we are proud to be achieving this as a UK-based company and a member of Britain’s brilliant games industry.”
